New Delhi: Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli recently met WWE star The Great Khali and happily posed and posted pictures on Twitter. When Kohli took to Twitter to post two pictures with Khali, he captioned the post, “It was Great to meet The Great Khali, what a guy!”

There was also as expected a huge cheer on Twitter, the posters writing with both joy and amusement. One poster wrote, “In front of khali u r look like child.” Another one posted, “Standing beside him,You look like a pillow on king size bed.”

Khali is in a semi-retirement mode it seems as his name is missing from the current WWE roster. He did make an appearance in one of the WWE events last month but it turned out to be a one-off appearance.

Kohli on the other hand is busy on the tour to Sri Lanka. He has had a great time captaining India in the ongoing Test series where India are leading 2-0 with just the one match to go.

Kohli in fact has become the first captain to win a series twice in Sri Lanka. The series win in the island nation overall became India’s eighth series win in a row.

New Delhi: Skipper Virat Kohli and his boys who are presently in Sri Lanka for the ongoing series against the Islanders, recently met WWE Superstar The Great Khali. The cricketers including Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, uploaded their pictures with Khali on social media websites and invited hilarious comments and trolls including a stunner from Rohit Sharma.

The 'Men in Blue' thumped the struggling Sri Lankan team once again in the ongoing three-Test series, wrapping up the victory in the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) by an innings and 53 runs.

After kissing the glory on 'Friendship Day', the 28-year-old along with other teammates met 'The Great Khali', aka Dalip Singh Rana.

SEE PICS: Indian Cricket Team's night out with The Great Khali in Sri Lanka

Rohit Sharma, who was included in the 15-man squad for Sri Lanka Test series, returned to Mumbai for a routine medical check up on August 3. Seeing the rest of his teammates click pictures with Khali, Rohit trolled all of them saying, "Well tried fellas, but the belt is here".

Rohit, as captain of Mumbai Indians, received a customary WWE Championship belt from Triple H, after his side won the Indian Premier League 2017 title.

The right-handed batsman, today, reminded his teammates that they may have met the professional wrestler but he is the one who has the WWE Championship belt.

India and Sri Lanka will now play the final Test beginning August 12 before starting off with the five-match ODI series and a lone T20.

And considering the quality, or the lack of it, of the Sri Lankan team, the visitors will look to complete a clean sweep in Pallekele (Kandy), where the third Test will be played.

This actor will play Dalip Singh Rana aka ‘The Great Khali’ in biopic – Really?

Mumbai: Bollywood is fascinated by lives of successful sportspersons. In the recent past, we have seen filmmakers exploring the unexplored. From ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ to ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Azhar’ to ‘M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story’ and last but not the least ‘Dangal’, we have seen it all. And now, a film on the Great Khali is reportedly on the anvil.

According to a report in DNA, Sushant Singh Rajput has reportedly agreed to do the film.

“The biopic is on the life of wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, better known as Khali or The Great Khali in WWE circle. The studio has spoken to the Punjabi wrestler and he has given them the rights to make a film on his life. Sushant has been approached to play the titular role and he has in principle agreed to do the film,” DNA quoted an inside as saying.

However, one will wonder how SSR will fit the bill because Khali stand about 7’1” tall and weighs about 157 kilos!

“What worked in Sushant’s favour during Dhoni was that he looked, walked and talked like MSD. Here, Sushant has no similarities with Khali when it comes to his body prototype and his height. Unless there’s a lot of VFX involved, it’s difficult to pull off a film on Khali. No hero in Bollywood will look convincing as The Great Khali, unless there’s CGI,” DNA quoted a trade analyst as saying.

Interestingly, if Sushant has been finalised for the film, then it will be his third biopic. After Dhoni, we will see Sushant essaying Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar and a film on Khali will be his third in the genre.

Like the film on Dhoni, Khali’s biopic promises to narrate the unheard struggles of his life.

So are you looking forward to this ‘great’ film?

New Delhi: A first in Rajasthan's history, Udaipur witnessed Encounter 18, a fight show organised on the lines of WWE, at the Maharana Pratap Games Village.

Encounter 18 brand ambassador The Great Khali graced the occasion alongside several foreign wrestlers, who enthralled the crowd with lively fights.

Thousands of fans thronged the event and reached well before time to reserve the best seats. With the fights taking place in front of their eyes, the fans enjoyed the myriad moves employed by the professional wrestlers.

Though, the event was a farce, causing a lot of chaos and problems. The bouncers stationed to enhance security misbehaved with the excited fans, raising a furore.

Bollywood celebrities Urvashi Rautela, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan too graced the event with their presence.

World-famous wrestler Khali is known for his giant body and his muscles. The legendary wrestler has shared a video on his Tiktok page recently where he’s seen working out and doing some weight-lifting in his house. But what makes this video extraordinary is the music playing in the background – Kartik Aaryan’s internet-breaking Corona Stop Karo Na rap.

The monologue which is written by the actor himself and pointed the dos’ and donts’ in the times of the pandemic, took the social media by storm. But who knew that the rap would be used for some serious workout session. The wrestler is not skipping his gym sessions and working out from home and the rap is apt for this one.

New Delhi: Dalip Singh Rana, better known by his ring name 'The Great Khali', came out in support of the agitating farmers and joined the protests against the new agriculture laws at the Tikri border on Tuesday (December 1, 2020).

In a video that the former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) champion shared on his official Instagram account, he said, "The farmers won't go back until unless their demands are met. They have come up with a ration that will last for six months."

Khali who reportedly joined the protests at the Tikri border captioned the video as 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' and also briefly explained the losses that a farmer would face due to the new agriculture laws.

He urged everyone to stand with the farmers so that the government has to agree to farmers' demands and also expressed, "The farmers of Haryana and Punjab are 'very tough'."

Khali is not the first famous face to come out in support of the farmers as several popular Punjabi actors, players, wrestlers and singers have also supported the farmers' protests.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Centre met leaders of the protesting farmer unions for talks to address their concerns on new agriculture laws

Over three-hour-long dialogue between a group of more than 32 farmer union leaders and the government remained inconclusive and the fourth round of talks has been scheduled for Thursday (December 3).

Notably, the farmers' protest has entered into the seventh consecutive day on Wednesday.

The reason behind the widespread protests is these three new laws - The Farmers` Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

Exclusive: My diet includes chicken, egg, rice, dal, says The Great Khali who loves both paratha and pizza!

The Great Khali made his wrestling debut in 2000 and his stint as a famous WWE star made him a household name. The 7 ft 3 inches tall wrestler became the first Indian professional wrestler to be signed to a contract by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) back in 2006. The Great Khali was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the 2021 class. In an exclusive interview with Zee News Digital, The Great Khali opened up on his love for food, balanced diet and association with KFC.

Q. So, what goes behind the success of The Great Khali, explain?

A. I never thought that I would become this huge global icon, The Great Khali, or do brand endorsements, work in Hollywood and Bollywood. I wasn’t aiming for this. My area of concern is as simple as any regular Indians’. We celebrate so many festivals and we end up overeating, so I would put in simple restrictions for myself – like not taking up festivals as an excuse to break my diet or consume too much sweet. But one thing that was consistent was that I never gave up, I kept trying and trying and doing my best.

It began with bodybuilding and then moved to wrestle. So, my funda is that if you start something, you must continue doing it with the same amount of energy and dedication. I have seen many people who after gaining success deviate and change their line of interest, but for me, it was always wrestling and bodybuilding.

Q. Are you a foodie? If yes, what do you like the most?

A. I am very conscious of what I eat, but I also enjoy my favourite dishes. So, it’s a balanced eating routine for me. My diet includes chicken, egg, rice, dal – a balance of carbs, fats, proteins and fibre.

Q. Why KFC double down burger is your pick?

A. I absolutely loved Double Down burger and would recommend everybody to try it. It has no bun and chicken fillets on both sides – like I say “uppar bhi chicken, neeche bhi chicken, chicken hi chicken” (laughs) – which for a chicken lover like me, is literally a dream burger.

Q. Is The Great Khali a soft person at heart or as tough as your exterior?

A. I never let anyone influence my life, I don’t give the key to my peace to anyone else. If I start listening to what others say, they wouldn’t let me do anything. I will probably have to sit home then. So, I’m not easily bothered, I know there are people who love me and that is what matters.

Q. What’s your daily diet plan?

A. If I am on a diet, I avoid things like bread, biscuits, etc. I pay attention to having a balanced diet that has the right mix of proteins, carbohydrates, fiber and fats.

Q. Please answer in quick one word:

A. Your most favourite clothes?

- comfortable clothes, simple loose t-shirts and pyjamas
b. Paratha or pizza?

- Like both!

c. Burger or fries?

- Burger, that too my new favourite – the KFC Double Down burger

Q. Any message for your fans?

A. To be honest, I wasn’t thinking too far ahead when I started my career. I started by keeping small, simple and short-term achievable goals for myself. I would urge my fans to do the same.
